BAFC FAMILY DAY “A REAL SUCCESS”

16 January 2017

FANS of Burton Albion played a huge part in making the BAFC Family Day with high numbers of participants turning up to take part in pre-match activities at the Burton Albion Community Football Centre.

Prior to Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game with Wigan Athletic, fans of BAFC took up the opportunity to take part in activities over on the 3G Astro at the Pirelli Stadium, as the club celebrated their annual Family Day. Children and adults of all ages turned up from 1.30-2.30pm, utilising the sessions that were put on by coaches from Burton Albion Community Trust, with archery, cricket and badminton competitions, an inflatable penalty challenge, a football skills session, as well as BAFC face paints all being on offer.

Throughout the hour session, over 100 people turned up to engage with the session, which also had BAFC’s latest accolade on show, in the form of the League One Runners-Up Trophy. Many fans took their chance to get a photograph with the silverware, leaving many fans delighted to see it on show.

Young first-team players Ben Fox and Ryan Delaney also took out their time to visit the session, putting their skills to the inflatable penalty contest, as well as posing for photos with the excited BAFC faithful.
The day also saw plenty of entertainment inside the stadium throughout the day, with pre-match and half time dancing from the BACT Dance Team, team line-ups being read out by young fan Etoni Widdowson, as well as flag bearing and penalty shootout competitions from local partner club, Tutbury Tigers.

Andy Taylor, Chief Executive of Burton Albion Community Trust, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon and went just the way that we had planned. We would like to thank everybody who joined us throughout the day and for the pre-match activities, as well as to those who took up our ticket offer. Since the success of the day, pre-match football activities that take place before matches over on the 3G will be completely free. Overall, despite the result of the game, the day was a real success”.

For anybody that would like to join us for any future pre-match football activities, please just turn up on the day before the match from 1.15pm.
