BURTON Albion take a break from Championship action on Saturday, as they travel to Watford in the FA Cup third round.

It’s the first time in the club’s history they take part in the illustrious competition as a second-tier side and they will be aiming to cause an upset against the struggling Hornets.

Walter Mazzarri made a bright start to life at Vicarage Road and saw his side flying-high in the top half but four defeats in five games has seen Watford slide down the table.

The lack of goals is worrying for the Italian with Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo struggling to find their shooting boots.

Ighalo was unstoppable last season, scoring 17 goals, and was being watched by the likes of Manchester United but his form has dipped alarmingly – with his starting berth now under threat.

Jerome Sinclair could get the nod after breaking into the first team set-up.

The former Liverpool youngster was highly-rated at Anfield but opted for a move down south in the search of first team opportunities.

It’s been a mixed week for Burton, who recorded a valuable win against relegation-threatened Rotherham before succumbing to a narrow defeat by Preston North End.

Nigel Clough’s men remain a point clear of the drop zone and will welcome the FA Cup fixture as a welcome distraction.

Jackson Irvine scored Burton Albion’s last goal which came in a 2-1 win over Rotherham United in December. The Australian midfielder is 9/4 to score anytime against Watford in the FA Cup clash.

It’s also a clash Burton will fancy, as Clough looks to claim another Premier League scalp as a manager.
