MCLAUGHLIN SAYS WIN AT QPR IS 'MASSIVE' FOR BREWERS

30 January 2017

GOALKEEPER Jon McLaughlin hailed a “massive” three points for his side after the 2-1 victory at QPR.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It was a massive win for us, especially after last week and dropping into the relegation zone which is something we have worked very hard all season to avoid.

“Staying out of the bottom three is our main objective so after last week we picked ourselves up and came here with a game plan to work as hard as we possibly could. We have put in an old style Burton performance, we produced some quality at times, created chances, worked incredibly hard at the back and got our reward for that.

“Always at this level it’s about can you score the goals. We have played at this performance level, not got the goals and there has been a lucky break for the opposition who have got through and scored and we might have lost the game. If you score two or three goals you usually win so it was good to see the lads take the chances.”

McLaughlin also produced some important saves as QPR put the Brewers under pressure in the second half.

He said: “It‘s always good to contribute - that’s what we are there for and the defenders have done a great job to limit the opportunities. It was an all round performance for us.

“Every win you get when you are near the bottom is massive as those teams down there aren’t winning every week. You can see that if you can string a few results together you move up the table and every single win you can get makes a big difference to you.

"We have moved out the bottom three and now it’s about putting some results together and moving forward.”
