YOUNG DEFENDER HEADS OUT ON LOAN

26 January 2017

BURTON Albion defender Ryan Delaney has joined League of Ireland Premier Division side Cork City on an international loan until the end of the season.

Cork City, founded in 1984, play their home games at Turners Cross – a 7,365 all-seater stadium on the southside of Cork City.

The 20-year-old joined Nigel Clough’s men in the summer from League of Ireland First Division side Wexford Youths.

The highly-rated defender played 51 times in the League of Ireland, scoring two goals for the Ferrycarrig Park team before making the move to England. Delaney was a member of the Wexford squad that won the SSE Airtricity League First Division in 2015.

Ryan hasn’t yet made a first-team appearance but has featured regularly in the reserve side and has made several appearances in the Birmingham Senior Cup for the Brewers.
