YOUNG BREWERS TO FACE GERRARD'S LIVERPOOL

6 July 2017

Burton Albion under 18s will take on Liverpool under 18s at St George’s Park on Friday the 14th of July.

The game will be Steven Gerrard’s first game in charge of the young Reds as he takes his first steps in management.

Kick-off will be at 12PM. It should be noted that this game will be played behind-closed-doors and not open to spectators, however, the academy twitter account (@BAFCAcademy) will be providing live updates during the game.

Academy manager Dan Robinson believes that the fixture will provide great experience for the young Brewers.

He said: “It’s a great opportunity for our players to test themselves against a Premier League academy and play at St George’s Park for the first time this season.

“We have got the whole season at St George’s Park and this is the first game and I understand that it is on the main pitch, so it will be good for them to experience that.

“To play Steven Gerrard’s youth team in his first game in charge is exciting , but  this is also a good opportunity for the entire club to show how far we have come as an academy.

“We are all looking forward to it.”
