BURTON Albion first-team trio Jake Buxton, Marvin Sordell and Shaun Barker yesterday afternoon met with de Ferrers Academy children at the Pirelli Stadium in a scheme set up by the Burton Albion Community Trust.
BURTON Albion first-team trio Jake Buxton, Marvin Sordell and Shaun Barker yesterday afternoon met with de Ferrers Academy children at the Pirelli Stadium in a scheme set up by the Burton Albion Community Trust.
The players took part in a variety of activities designed for the learners to improve Literacy skills through physical activity.
Year ten English GCSE students also attended the Pirelli Stadium, the aim of their visit was to take part in a Year 10 GCSE Conference, where they used the surroundings and Burton Albion FC as a focus to remember key techniques when sitting their GCSE English exam.
Aaron Savva, Education Manager at Burton Albion Community Trust said: “It’s a great way to help the year 10s with their exam techniques. We hope there visit will help to raise their Educational Attainment.”
Sarah Evans, Education & Learning Team Leader said: “The year 7s have really enjoyed their five week course and this is a great way to top it off by meeting the first-team players. This programme is designed to improve their literacy by using sport and different topics to make it more exciting and interactive. We used innovative methods to deliver the same content they would normally learn in a classroom.”
