BOYCE STILL LEARNING ABOUT TEAMMATES

21 July 2017

New striker Liam Boyce is enjoying pre-season so far and admits he is still learning about his new teammates on and off the pitch.

Ahead of tonight’s trip to AFC Wimbledon, Boyce said:

“It’s been nice being away with the lads, pre-season is mainly about fitness and getting to know everybody by bonding. It is also key that we don’t get any injuries, I am trying to learn about my teammates on the pitch as well as off.

Forming partnerships with the wingers and midfielders is just as important as forming one with your fellow striker. I have played with different partners in the friendlies and am learning when they will cross the ball, who prefers to play in behind or not, hopefully I can form some good partnerships like I did back at Ross County.

Scoring is obviously important, as a striker you always want to score. I am not too concerned I haven’t scored yet and would gladly swap not scoring for important league goals when the season starts. It’ll be good for the team to test themselves against Leicester and West Brom, it won’t be as competitive as a league game but they’ll be good games to help us prepare.”
