WIMBLEDON 3-0 BAFC

21 July 2017

As expected, Nigel Clough rotated the team to the one that beat Solihull Moors 2-1 on Tuesday night.

John Mousinho, Stephen Warnock and Kyle McFadzean started across the back line with Lucas Akins, Matty Lund, Luke Murphy, Jackson Irvine and Lloyd Dyer across the midfield line whilst Liam Boyce and Marvin Sordell led the Brewers line.

In a game of few chances it was the home side that looked the liveliest going forward as Cody McDonald and Dean Parrett created half chances but couldn't find a way past Stephen Bywater.

We waited until the 42nd minute for the first goal where Parrett drove at the Albion defence before getting a shot off which was blocked by Warnock, although the ball fell back into Parrett's path who saw his second shot nestle into the back of the net.

AFC Wimbledon doubled their lead three minutes later when a long ball over the top was met by Cody McDonald who lifted the ball over the onrushing Stephen Bywater on the stroke of half time.

Nigel Clough rung the changes just after the hour mark as all eight subs made appearances.

The home side made a handful of changes too, and one of them came to good use as Jayden Antwi pinched the ball just inside the Brewers half and advanced into the box before lashing it past Harry Campbell to make it 3-0.
