IRVINE HELPS AUSTRALIA TO VITAL THREE POINTS

8 June 2017

JACKSON Irvine played 64 minutes for Australia against Saudi Arabia in their 2018 World Cup Qualifier.

The Burton Albion midfielder helped the Socceroos to a vital three points in their bid to quality for the 2018 World Cup.

He started in central midfield along side Celtic’s Tom Rogic. Mile Jedinak and Aaron Mooy, who both came up against Irvine and Burton Albion last season, also started for the Caltex Socceroos.

Tomi Juric opened the scoring on seven minutes but things were leveled back up after 23 minutes. 13 minutes later Juric struck again to give the Socceroos the lead, but things were level once again on the stroke of half time.

Tom Rogic ensured the scores weren't level in the second half. His strike on 64 minutes put Australia back in front.

FT: Australia 3-2 Saudi Arabia
