BURTON Albion will learn their 2017/18 fixtures next Wednesday at 9am, when next season’s games are released first on burtonalbionfc.co.uk.
Over the past five seasons the Brewers have been away on the opening day of the season four times, compared to just the once at home.
The record is fairly evenly split in terms of points return. Two wins, two defeats and a draw have all been recorded on the last five opening games.
Before Albion’s latest opening day game against Nottingham Forest, where they fell just short of a point, the Brewers had won their previous two opening day fixtures against Oxford United and Scunthorpe United respectively.
Lucas Akins will be looking to keep up his impressive record. The Albion forward has scored in each of his last three opening day fixtures for the Brewers, including a debut goal away at Oxford United at the start of the 2014/15 season.
