RAYGAR has become the first firm to back Burton Albion Academy in its bid to produce the Brewers stars of the future.
The Academy recently launched it’s One of Our Own project, which offered sponsorship packages to businesses willing to help nurture future Burton Albion first team players.
The One of Our Own initiative invites businesses and organisations to partner with the Academy, to benefit from the exposure and the brand of Burton Albion, and to help produce players to follow in the footsteps of Matty Palmer, who has graduated from the Academy to make 150 first team appearances, Joe Sbarra, Ben Fox and Marcus Harness.
Raygar Architectural & Engineering Supplies Ltd is an independent supplier of ironmongery, tools and fixings based in Derby. The firm, and MD Ray Garlick, already support the football club and the community trust. Ray is now backing the Academy Under 13s.
He said: “The Academy is the future of the club and you have to begin at grassroots level and there’s no better way than starting with youngsters and letting them grow with the club. I’ve been involved with the club for over ten years now, even before the Pirelli Stadium was built I was at Eton Park. I have grown with the club year on year.”
Academy Manager Dan Robinson said: “It’s fantastic. Ray is a big part of the club and has been involved for a long time. To have him involved with the Academy as well as supporting its development is massive for us.
“I’m very excited for the future and, hopefully, it’s a long-standing relationship. We have developed the ‘One of our Own’ concept and Ray has come in to be one of the first partners which is fantastic.
“To move it in the direction that we need to in order keep up with the first team, this additional support is massive. It can only help us get players out on the pitch for the first team.”
Sponsorship packages are still available for under Under 18s, Under 10s and Under 9s.
