BRAYFORD NAMED IN EFL TEAM OF THE WEEK

13 March 2017

JOHN Brayford has been named in the EFL’s ‘Team of the week’ in association with EA Sports.

Brayford was captain for the afternoon as Burton hosted Nottingham Forest in another big match at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, and he led by example in the 1-0 victory.

The 29-year-old won six aerial duels and had 61 touches of the ball. His passing accuracy was 45%.

On loan from Sheffield United, the defender put his body on the line throughout, making a superb block to deny Matty Cash, and earning special praise from boss Nigel Clough.

The Albion boss said after the game: "John Brayford was outstanding today - his heading and his saving tackle the one time they got through us. It was a brilliant challenge and he was the skipper today, had the armband and led from the front.”
