BRENTFORD MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM NEWS

18 March 2017

BURTON Albion will be looking to extend their six game unbeaten run to seven when they take on Brentford FC this afternoon at the Pirelli Stadium.

The game comes just before a two-week break before the Brewers head to Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United.

Burton are now unbeaten in six matches, with victories over Norwich and Nottingham Forest either side of four consecutive draws - a run of results that is keeping them at arm's length from the drop zone.

Mid-table Brentford are the model of inconsistency - just when they get on a run of positive results, they have tended to suffer back-to-back defeats.

The Bees will be keen to avoid their November slump but won't find it easy against a Burton side who have won three of their last four home games.

Albion strikers Marvin Sordell and Luke Varney, who both came off against Nottingham Forest, are both doubts. They are Burton's only injury concerns, although Chris O'Grady and Will Miller may miss out again due to the limit of loan players in a matchday squad.

Lucas Akins may be recalled, while John Mousinho, Tom Naylor and Michael Kightly will also hope for starts.

From the Brentford camp, centre-back Andreas Bjelland is on his way back after a hamstring injury that kept him out for three matches.

Josh McEachran, who suffered an ankle injury at Sheffield Wednesday last month, is also close to returning.

Fellow midfielders Lewis Macleod and Alan Judge remain sidelined, though the latter is building up his fitness after a double leg break a year ago.

Today’s referee will be Andy Madley who has dished out 120 yellow cards and 6 red cards so far this season. He was last at the Pirelli back in January when the Brewers lost 2-0 to Wigan.

Tickets are still available for home fans and can be purchased in person at the club shop.

What’s on?
