CLOUGH AND BARKER MEET FOOTBALL JOURNALISM STUDENTS

9 March 2017

BREWERS manager Nigel Clough and defender Shaun Barker have attended a Q&A event at the University of Derby.

The Brewers boss and player were invited to meet, and face questions from, first year football journalism students at the main Kedleston Road site.

Clough and Barker conducted in-house radio interviews with the students before facing a panel in a Q&A in one of the university's lecture theatres.

The students asked Barker about his long fight back from injury and how it felt to return to Championship action after a four-year break.

Clough answered questions about his playing and managerial career and his thoughts on football in general.

Both the manager and player were impressed with the standard of questions from the budding journalists.

Peter Lansley, senior lecturer in football journalism at the University of Derby, said: "It was brilliant and, as we thought, Nigel and Shaun were down to earth and mixed with the students. They put the students at ease and gave them lots of interesting little stories.

"We offer the only football journalism course in the country and I'm sure the students got a lot out of the visit."
