JACKSON Irvine has picked up Burton Albion’s March goal of the month award for his strike against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. The Australian midfielder signed for the Brewers in the summer and has raced his way to the top of the goal scorers list this season.
He has already picked up three goal of the month awards prior to March, now taking his tally to four.
On the goal, Irvine said: “It’s unusual for me to not be in the box attacking a set-play. It just fell to me, and we actually do work on it in training but it was pure instinct. Nine times out of ten they end up outside of the stadium but fortunately enough this one found the bottom corner.
The midfielder said it was one of the best goals he has scored: “I would say so yes, because it was with my opposite foot and technically it was probably the most difficult. It’s quite an important goal at the point in the season and especially the way the game was developing.”
