ACADEMY LOOKS TO BRING ON THE NEXT MATTY PALMER

19 May 2017

BURTON Albion Academy is committed to bringing on the first team players of the future.

Two scholars have been given pro contracts after Nigel Clough offered Jack Hallahan and Jayden Cotterill opportunities for next season.

Academy Manager Dan Robinson hopes that the club can keep looking for the next home grown talents to follow Matty Palmer into the first team.

He said: “Our club can’t go and spend millions of pounds on players so we need to produce Championship standard players of our own.

“We need to develop players that can progress into our first team.

“Matty Palmer has shown that it can be done and we have a manager who will give players opportunities. It’s a possible dream.

“Jayden and Jack both worked hard to get the contracts they have got – at college and at their games. They have been given good direction on areas they have needed to improve and they have grasped that. They have very exciting futures.”
