NIGEL Clough has thanked Burton Albion fans for their support home and away during the Championship season.
The manager, coaching staff and players returned to the pitch after yesterday's game for a lap of appreciation and Clough was swift to praise the fans.He said: "We were delighted that the majority of fans stayed behind as it was lovely for us to be able to thank them because we are extremely proud of the support they have given us this season.
"We have done incredibly well to stay up and we know it will be even harder next year but we are not going to think about that just yet. We have to talk to players and start making plans but we will enjoy this for a few days first.
"It has been amazing effort by the players and everybody - the support home and away has been key to it.
"I think we all got the rewards we deserved and sometimes in football you don't. Because we got the rewards that makes it worthwhile."
