IRVINE SCOOPS AWARDS NIGHT TREBLE

2 May 2017

IT was an awards treble for Jackson Irvine after an outstanding first season for Burton Albion.

The midfielder not only picked up the Top Goal Scorer Award but was also the fans’ choice for Player of the Season and was also the Players’ Player of the Season.

Runner up in the fans’ Player of the Season vote was defender John Brayford, whose goal line clearances and last ditch tackles have been a key factor in keeping the Brewers in the Championship.

Michael Kightly’s brilliant finish against Norwich was voted the Goal of the Season.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough said: “I would like to congratulate all the winners on their achievements this season but I think it’s important to remember that we have relied on the whole squad and everyone has trained and worked hard and been ready to play their part. We have been resilient, have always kept going and have been together as a group.
“Retaining our Championship status is a brilliant achievement for everyone at the club.
“I would also like thanks to all our supporters, sponsors and partners for backing us this season – it makes a massive difference.”
