INJURY UPDATE: PRE-SHEFFIELD UNITED

14 November 2017

JOHN Brayford and Joe Mason will be missing from the Brewers squad which faces Sheffield United at the Pirelli Stadium on Friday (7.45pm kick off).

Brayford has still not recovered from a hamstring problem and Albion manager Nigel Clough says that they won’t be rushing him back. Mason has been struggling with a back injury.

Clough said: “We haven’t put a time frame on John coming back at the moment. Joe is the other one and his back is still sore. Will Miller is training again and was on the bench at Millwall and will probably keep his place, so we are closer to a full squad with just Liam Boyce being long term out.

“We now have a period where the games come thick and fast with no breaks and no cups and we want to get into January in reasonable condition so we can strengthen and assess what you need from there.”

Tom Flanagan and Matty Lund have returned from international duty with Northern Ireland who lost 1-0 over two legs to Switzerland and will therefore miss out on the World Cup finals.

“They have been knocked out on one dubious penalty,” said Clough. “Despite the fact they didn’t play Matty and Tom and the whole Northern Ireland nation felt the frustration of it. It’s very unfortunate for them.”
