JAMIE Allen is looking to get on the scoresheet for the Brewers and help Nigel Clough’s team get more points on the board.
The transfer deadline day signing from Rochdale has made a solid start to life in the Championship and his pot shots from outside of the box have seen him hit the post or have been brilliantly saved.
He said: “I’m itching to get a goal. I feel my chances are coming and I feel I’m getting closer and I do want to chip in with goals. I just need one to go in the net and more will follow.”
So far the midfielder is enjoying the step up to the Championship.
“It has been challenging but it’s something I wanted to do and I’m enjoying it and taking it in my stride.
“There’s a big difference as if you are careless in possession then teams will punish you and we have found that out in a couple of games this season already.
“I have picked up a couple of little niggles, nothing major which is part pf the process of stepping up a division with the intensity of the Championship.
“The manager has been really good with me and it’s good to play for him.
“There are a lot of good midfielders at the club so I have to fight for my place on the training pitch first and then do my best on game day.
“As a group, we need to take our chances more and stay compact as a team. We needed that Millwall result and that has helped us come back from the international break in good spirits so hopefully we can take that into Friday. It will be a tough game against Sheffield United but one we are looking forward to.”
