BURTON Albion captain Jake Buxton believes that Burton Albion were “out-fought” against Sheffield United and that the Brewers need to start taking their good form away from home back to the Pirelli Stadium.
A brace from Billy Sharp and a second-half goal made it five-consecutive home defeats for the Brewers, who are still yet to keep a clean sheet on their own turf this season. In stark contrast, they have kept four clean sheets away from home and have lost just once in their last five away from the Pirelli.
Buxton conceded that Burton had been second-best on the night, but says that the team must start making more of their home advantage.
He said: “We are struggling a little bit at home to find form and get a result. The performances against Barnsley and Ipswich were probably at a standard where we should have got points, but we didn’t.
“We are disappointed with the performance and how we have been out-worked tonight. If we could flip it on its head with the performances that we are having away from home, we seem more comfortable away from home at the moment, I am not sure why that is, maybe because the emphasis is on the other team.
“We have to stand toe to toe with somebody, work hard and be better than the opposition, which we are not doing at this moment in time."
