MANAGER'S VERDICT: BRENTFORD

21 November 2017

NIGEL Clough thought the Brewers deserved a point at Brentford after the 1-1 draw and believed his team could have won it at the end.

The Brewers boss said: "We deserved that point for our night's work. With a little bit better play in the last ten minutes we might have taken our opportunities to go on and win the game.

"We conceded a wonder free kick but apart from that Stephen Bywater hasn't had too much to do tonight. He had no chance with the free kick, it was brilliant.

"After that the most important thing for the next 10-15 minutes was not to concede again. We had to make sure we were still solid. We changed a couple of players to give us a little bit more forward impetus and we grew into the game from that point.

"Joe Sbarra and Will Miller gave us a lift and we have no problem throwing the youngsters on. They go out and play and you get that freshness and youthfulness.

"Joe has dinked a lovey ball to the far post and Ben Turner has stayed up from the corner and has headed it in. It was great for him to get the equaliser.

"The irony was that Jake Buxton needed a breather tonight as he has been carrying knocks all season but he felt his thigh in the warm up. So we put Joe on the bench instead and it's brilliant the way it has worked out for him."
