BREWERS Northern Ireland duo Matty Lund and Tom Flanagan were unused subtitutes last night as the Northern Irish lost 3-1 to current World Cup champions Germany.

The Germans were clinical and took the lead in just the second minute when Sebastian Rudy of Bayern Munich scored a powerful effort, their lead was doubled thanks to Sandro Wagner who rifled home from the edge of the area before another Munich player Joshua Kimmich scored late on.

The Northern Irish did get a consolation goal late on through Charlton forward Josh Magennis.

Despite the defeat they appear on course to make the play-offs and finish 2nd in their group with just one group game remaining this Sunday against Norway.

Both players will be hoping to be involved in Oslo and pick up more international experience ahead of returning to club duty for the Brewers tie against Bristol City next Friday.
