RP-X Fitness have recently installed a Pro-X Recovery Tub in the home dressing room at the Pirelli Stadium.
Recovery Tubs are ice baths used to speed up the body's own natural means of recovery. The physiological mechanisms behind this method of recovery are to flush out metabolic waste promoting venous return and to reduce inflammatory swelling.
RP-X Fitness focuses on sourcing and supplying inspired solutions for Recovery, Performance and Rehabilitation. They focus on innovation in product, customer experience, support, science, service and maintenance.
The first team squad are able to use the Recovery Tub post-match in order to help speed up recovery. In addition, injured players will benefit from the Recovery Tub in their rehab programmes.
Daniel Billington, Business Development & Sales Manager at RP-X Fitness said: "It was a pleasure to work with Nick in seeking the best possible solution for a permanent installation of a Recovery Tub into the First Team Changing Room. From our first meeting, the Club placed a huge emphasis on the wellbeing of the players, and that such an investment was of paramount importance in the day to day recovery and rehab program. The club opted for a Pro-X Recovery Tub that has been custom designed for the Club, with the inclusion of a massage wand and water jets whilst also being able to Cool to 5°C for the players to opt from lower body or total body immersion. The feedback so far has been extremely positive, and RP-X Fitness are pleased to be working in partnership with Burton Albion FC, for which we wish them all the best for the rest of this season and beyond."
Nick Fenton, Head Physiotherapist said: "Thanks to RP-X Fitness for installing the Recovery Tub, it's already been a fantastic addition to our medical department. The players really love it and they seem to be getting the benefits from it and hopefully we will see the benefits as the season goes on.
"After tough matches the lads will be able to get straight in the tub to help them recover a lot quicker. It just aids that recovery process completely and it enables them to train harder. Obviously, Liam (Boyce) has got his ACL injury so it aids his recovery and gives us that little bit extra and another tool in our armoury just to help him along the way."
