CLOUGH BELIEVES BOYCE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE GOALS

27 October 2017

NIGEL Clough believes that Liam Boyce would have been in the goals this season if he hadn't been ruled out by injury.

The Northern Ireland internation was a summer signing from Ross County and the Brewers boss believed he could bring to the Championship the same skills that made him the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership last season.

The Brewers boss said: "Liam was at the game on Saturday and that brought it home as I think he would have scored against Forest. He would have got us five or six goals already this season and he’s a big miss."

The striker was ruled out for most of the season with an ACL injury before the Championship got under way and is not the only forward on the treatment table.

Clough adds: "You lose Joe Mason as well, Will Miller is out and Lucas Akins goes off at half-time at Forest and you are three or four strikers down and it’s tough."
