EX-PLAYERS, supporters and football fans in general are invited to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Stapenhill FC at a special dinner.
The event will be held at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, November 18, and as well as celebrating the history of the football club will also raise much-needed funds.
Ian Gough, chairman of Stapenhill FC, has been connected to the club since 1968 as a player, manager and for the last two years taking over the day-to-day running.
He says: “We are looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends and I hope that anyone with a connection to the club will want to come along and help us mark the occasion. It’s also never easy running a football club like ours so it will be a great way of putting some funds into the club.
“We have a link with Burton Albion with the football education programme youngsters playing on our pitch and we are grateful to Ben Robinson for letting us use the facilities at the Pirelli Stadium for this special occasion.
“We are looking forward to what we hope will be a very special and enjoyable evening and hope to see as many people there as possible.”
Stapenhill Football Club was founded in 1947 and has played in the Leicestershire Senior League, Midland Alliance and Midland Combination during its history. The club is currently in the East Midlands Counties Premier Division – which is step 6 in the non-league pyramid.
The celebration on November 18 includes a three-course meal and a disco. It’s 7pm for a 7.30pm start and it will finish at midnight.
Tickets cost £35. Call Ian on 01283 760900 or 07903 741002 to book tickets. Everyone welcome.
