ACADEMY HIGHLIGHTS: BRADFORD CITY 1-2 BURTON ALBION

4 September 2017

A brace from James Harrison earned the Burton Albion under 18s a 2-1 win over Bradford City.

The win was the first win of the season for the young Brewers, who put in a well-organised and disciplined performance.

Harrison scored two goals as the visitors secured their first Youth Alliance points of the season, with his first coming four minutes before half-time and his second was scored just after the hour-mark.

The Brewers may have been disappointed to concede of goal in the 91st minute, when a deflected effort looped over goalkeeper Callum Hawkins into the top right hand corner of the net.

Burton were seldom troubled by a Bradford side, who had won that last two league fixtures, and the Brewers could have taken the lead after just 16 minutes, as Harrison put the ball in the back of the net, only to see his goal disallowed.

Joe Brown made his first start of the season and put in an impressive performance at right wing-back, while Charlie Oddy and Nathan Morley came on for their first league appearances of the season.

The young Brewers had to shuffle the pack early in the second half when Jack Bromfield replaced centre half Max Smith through injury with Jacob Saville moving into the defensive back line.
