NIGEL Clough is hoping Stephen Warnock will be fit in time to face Leeds United on Saturday.
The defender was injured in the first few minutes of the game at Hull on August 12 and hasn’t featured since.
Clough said: “We are hoping to have Stephen back, although he hasn’t done any training as yet. He’ll be looking forward to getting back on the pitch and going to one of his old clubs.
“The games come thick and fast so we won’t risk him if’s he not quite there as we don’t want him to play and then to miss the next six. “
Luke Murphy is ineligible to play against his parent club and the Brewers have other injury worries.
Clough said: “Hope Akpan is still struggling with an injury he picked up in training – he’s available after suspension but is injured. Luke Varney hasn’t trained because of his hamstring.”
Matty Lund has however returned from international duty with Northern Ireland ready to play.
Clough said: “We don’t stop lads going to join up with their international squads if they are carrying a knock and he has joined in training with Northern Ireland and was fit for the second game. Nick Fenton keeps up to date with their physio and Matty’s back now with us and in training.”
