CLOUGH TARGETS AWAY POINTS

7 September 2017

NIGEL Clough says the Brewers have to start picking up away points – beginning with the testing trips to Leeds United on Saturday and Norwich City on Tuesday.

Albion have so far lost at Hull City and Middlesbrough in the Championship, although they have won twice away from home in the Carabao Cup.

The Brewers boss said: “We are looking to get something from the next two away games. We were  1-1 at Hull with 11 men and had a good spell at Middlesbrough as well. We can’t rely totally on our home form. We are three unbeaten and want to keep that going. It’s amazing how that breeds confidence. It’s a difficult league in which to get a run going but after losing our first three we have bounced back and are in reasonable shape.”

Clough also believes his team were unlucky to lose at Elland Road last season.

He said: “We should have scored and been ahead but with six minutes to go we made a mistake and gave a penalty away. They are the sort of games that with the experience we have here now we are aiming to turn losses into draws. These are the games you shouldn’t be losing when you have played so well.”
