BREWERS defender John Brayford believes an “extra ten percent” is required if the side are going to be successful again this season.
Brayford, who re-joined Burton Albion this time on a two-year deal after leaving Sheffield United has warned his fellow team-mates that teams will know all about what to expect when they play the Brewers following last season’s survival campaign.
He said: “With last year being the first for the club in the Championship and staying up, everyone always says it’s the second year which is actually harder. Sometimes people take their foot of the peddle in the second season but we’ve got to put in another ten percent, teams last season may have thought they could walk all over us but now they know what we are about. We are a threat to anybody on our day.
“It’s important that we have brought in a mixture of signings over the summer, some of the lads from League One will come with drive and hunger to do well, then the experienced signings like Jake Buxton and Stephen Warnock are great guys to have in the group. I’ve played with Jake before, he is right off my street in style, he’s a guy I love to play with. He’s a leader on and off the pitch, I am sure everybody will be in the same mould and go out there this season and give 110%.”
