JAKE Buxton says the Brewers will not be fazed by playing at Old Trafford when they take on Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Third Round.
The Albion skipper said: “We need to use our hearts but also our brains and stay in the tie as long as we can. We must come off having not left anything on the pitch.
“Any Nigel Clough side, home or away, will have a go. We will prepare as we do for every Championship game, because there are a lot of big clubs in this league now. We are underdogs most weeks so we know what we are up against tomorrow night and we will have a right go, roll our sleeves up and see where it takes us."
Buxton and team mate Stephen Warnock lined up in the Wigan defence to play Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup last season – losing 4-0.
Buxton says: “We were doing OK at half-time but they went up the gears in the second half. I think the key is not to let the occasion get to you. It’s a chance to punch with the big boys and you have to stand toe-to-toe and have a go at them.”
Buxton won’t be studying too much footage of United’s star players.
He said: “You can over prepare and with technology today - you can have clips but the last thing I want to be doing is watching clips of Manchester United players at nine o’clock tonight. We prepare as normal, try and go under the radar but once we step out onto the pitch we have a job to do.That’s to give everything we have got and ensure that every supporter who travels up there knows that Burton Albion players give everything for them and the club.”
