BREWERS skipper Jake Buxton says that it’s a great time to be a Burton Albion fan.
Albion take on Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight in the Carabao Cup Third Round – 11 years on from playing there in the FA Cup as a non-league side.
Buxton first joined the Brewers in 2008/2009 a couple of years on from when Albion took on Manchester United in the FA Cup Third Round replay but says that he saw the importance of those games to the club’s development.
He said: “It was a kick start to have a right go in the Conference and to get promoted and the club has not looked back since then. You can say that those games were a big reason why the club has had so much success.
“If you have been a Burton Albion supporter over the last 15 years all you have seen is progression – it’s probably the best club to be supporting at this particular moment in time.
“We are still on a train, we are still going and we feel there are still achievements to be had in this group of players and for this club.
“It’s a brilliant ride and long may it continue.”
