AKINS SAYS BREWERS JUST LACKED FINISHING TOUCH

23 September 2017

LUCAS Akins says that after the first half performance at QPR, a 0-0 draw "felt like two points lost".

Akins said: "In the first half we were on top of them and created some good opportunities, decent openings but the finishing touches were lacking today.

"Starting fast was something we have worked on all week and putting them under pressure but we didn't get the goal and then had to make sure we kept the clean sheet.

"We know it's never a negative thing coming away and getting a point. But it shows how far we have come that we don't want to just come here and settle for a point.

"We knew first and foremost that it would be a tough match physically and we would need to match them. We also wanted then to get the ball down and play.

"They put us on the back foot in the second half but we defended magnificently to a man and a point is perhaps a good result on reflection.

"Moving forward, we have two very good home games coming up that we feel we can get points from. We have been on the road a lot so far this season and we relish being back at home."

"We just need to recover properly and make sure we are ready to go again on Tuesday."
