ACADEMY HIGHLIGHTS: YORK CITY 1-2 BURTON ALBION

25 September 2017

THE under 18s made it three wins in a row as goals from James Harrison and Reece Hutchinson secured a 2-1 win over York City.

The Brewers took the lead when Hutchinson placed the ball past the York goalkeeper in the second half. Harrison doubled the lead with a finish from close-range after getting on the end of a deflected cross.

Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Sam Rose was pleased with the performance of the team.

He said:

“We have been able to build on the momentum from the wins over Bradford City and Shrewsbury Town and although we went a goal down in the game I think the group always felt they were playing well enough to get back level and go on and win the game. We created chance after chance and played some good football and took the game to York City in terms of the pressing and the tempo we played at.”

Rose also feels that the side’s recent form is a result of the effort that they have been putting in and feels that their winning run can continue.

He said: “It's been a real squad effort over the first 5 games and it's pleasing that all of the fit and available players have been able to contribute to what has been an encouraging start to the season overall. The group are playing with confidence, even after a tough result against the older and experienced Mansfield Town side in midweek in the reserves games programme. Whilst the lads are aware of the expectations placed on them, they are working hard and having some success on and off the pitch, and they should be buoyant and looking forward to every game knowing that we can keep winning if we keep on improving.”
