CLOUGH SAYS BIRMINGHAM WILL BE FULL OF CONFIDENCE

5 April 2018

NIGEL Clough is expecting Birmingham City to be in confident mood after winning their last three games.

The Blues have improved dramatically since the arrival of Garry Monk as manager and are now eight points ahead of Albion in the Championship table ahead of Saturday’s trip to St Andrew’s (kick off 3pm).

Clough says: “Like we did last season, they have pulled some results off against form and that’s what you have to do in a relegation battle. We have been close to it and not quite achieved it this season.

“Despite the investment in the summer they have found themselves in a relegation battle again, but it looks as though they are pulling clear and Garry will be looking to build on that I’m sure.

“If we had been playing Birmingham a couple of weeks ago it would have been a different proposition. They will be a much more confident outfit and it’s amazing the lift the results will have given them and confidence will be sky high.

“We are probably playing a bit better than we were this time last season, but we are not getting the results.

“It’s very easy in the Championship to go five games without winning so we are hoping that one of those teams above us might go through that kind of blip in the remaining matches.”
