PREVIEW: BIRMINGHAM CITY

7 April 2018

THE Brewers travel to St Andrew's this afternoon looking to shrink the gap between the two sides to five points.

HEAD TO HEAD

Burton Albion have never lost a league fixture to the Blues, winning all of their three meetings in the Championship.

However, Birmingham did come out on top in the most recent meeting between the two sides, beating the Brewers 1-0 in the FA Cup third round back in January.

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS

Lucas Akins has returned to training for the Brewers, however it is unknown whether or not he will be restored to the line-up this afternoon.

Lloyd Dyer, Tom Naylor and Luke Murphy all picked up knocks in the game on Easter Monday, while Darren Bent has been struggling with illness this week, it is hoped they will all be fit to play this afternoon.

BIRMINGHAM CITY TEAM NEWS

Garry Monk’s Blues will be without two key forwards for today’s game. Che Adams is suspended after he was sent-off against Bolton in midweek, while on-loan Southampton forward Sam Gallagher will miss the game through injury.

REFEREE

Darren Bond has handed out 76 yellow cards and five reds in 25 Championship games this season.

The last Brewers match that he officiated was the 2-1 Boxing Day defeat to Leeds United at the Pirelli Stadium.
