BEN Fox’s season is over after a recurrence of a hamstring injury.
The midfielder has been making his mark on loan at Gateshead but has been sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Nigel Clough said: “I have spoken to Ben and it’s the same one that went a few weeks ago so that will be his season done. It’s now about getting him fit, working him hard in the summer and strengthening his hamstrings.
“It has been good experience for him at Gateshead.
“If we had been done now and had known our fate we would have called him back and played him.
“We have always given young players an opportunity. On Saturday we thought Joe Sbarra was right to play on the left-hand side.
“He was a little bit overawed for ten minutes but once he got into the game he was absolutely fine – showed some nice touches and got some tackles in which is good to see as we want to add that to his game.
“We have some good young players who will be around the team whatever league we are in.”
