BEN Turner says that the Burton Albion supporters deserve to enjoy the club’s recent form, after the Brewers beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 in the final home game of the season.
The victory leaves Burton only in the relegation zone on goal difference, with five teams still in danger of being relegated to League One on the final day of the season.
Having not won a home game between September and much of April, the Brewers have bookended a win over Sunderland with two victories at the Pirelli Stadium, and Turner says that fans deserve to enjoy the good form just as much as the players.
“Our fanbase is very different to other clubs, it is definitely different to any club that I have been at. People come here to enjoy their football. We have been down there all season, which is understandable with Burton Albion in the Championship, but no one has ever gotten on our backs. Everyone has tried to enjoy it, and today is a day that the fans can enjoy.
“We have won back-to-back home games and the fans deserve it as much as us. They keep coming and supporting and now we have won two home games for them, we have finished on a high at home.
“It was brilliant. I felt like I was part of a strong team that was really focussed on what we had to do. We were told to go out and win the game, however possible, and I thought that it was two different halves, but the two haves equalled the result that we wanted.
“We are in good form now, aren’t we? Same squad, same manager and the same coaches, but we are getting results. There a few differences with who is on the pitch and who is not, it has just clicked at the minute and hopefully that carries on for one more game and we can give ourselves a chance (of survival).
“It is not job done yet, we need to go away (to Preston) and try our best to finish it off.”
