CLOUGH HOPES FOR MONEY-SPINNING TIE

15 August 2018

NIGEL Clough is hoping for a plum tie when the Carabao Cup draw is made tomorrow night.

The Brewers beat Shrewsbury 2-1 last night and will find out their reward tomorrow when the Second Round draw takes place live on Sky.

The Brewers manager is looking for a home draw against a big team.

“There are three things we are looking to get out of the competition – confidence, income,  and glory. Hopefully we have a bit of confidence from last night. The next round could give us some income and if we get a big team we get a chance of glory. One of the Premier League teams down here at the Pirelli, or away from home where we can make some money would be ideal.

“We have some good possible local games with Stoke and Derby which would be nice, and it would be good to be at home for our supporters. Six consecutive away draws is quite freakish and hopefully it is going to change. We have won three away from home so that's a pretty good record.

“A big tie could make the difference between us bringing a player in or not before the end of the month on loan.”

Clough says that the cup victory has boosted moral in the squad.

He said: “It’s a different atmosphere coming in today, despite the fact that we could have had six points from the first two games without doing things greatly differently, just defending better.

“To start the season with two defeats is not ideal so to get a win in any competition is important and the Carabao Cup is important to us.”

We will have the Carabao Cup draw news and Nigel Clough’s reaction on Twitter and here at www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk tomorrow night.
