THE Young Brewers will compete in the South Central group of the Central League Cup this season, along with Walsall, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town.
Many of the under 18s side also featured in last season’s competition, when they came up against squads from Mansfield Town and Grimsby Town featuring players with more than 1500 EFL appearances between them.
Albion will begin their group stage against Walsall at home on Tuesday 2nd October, before facing Bristol Rovers away on Tuesday 6th November and Shrewsbury Town away on Tuesday 11 December. All games will be 1PM kick-offs.
Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Sam Rose said: ‘’Traditionally the competition has provided ‘reserve team’ type fixtures. The likelihood is that we will face teams in the competition with some players who have EFL experience, and those types of games are invaluable for our young players. It’s a great addition to our games programme and another opportunity and experience.’’
Further details will be announced in due course.
