INJURY UPDATE: OXFORD

22 August 2018

THE Brewers injury list is beginning to ease ahead of the trip to Oxford on Saturday (kick off 3pm) although Nigel Clough will still be without Joe Sbarra and Damien McCrory for the League One clash.

Both players are making progress and Sbarra’s ankle problem is not as bad as first feared.

Clough said: “That’s a major plus for us as he got a fair whack with his being slight of stature and it frightened him with the pain at the time but it subsided and the scans were clear so we will get him back training as soon as possible.

“Damien’s hamstring is coming on very well and he has an outside chance for Walsall in the Checkatrade Trophy – that’s only three and half weeks and ideally he needs four weeks but with the progress he’s making it would be ideal to get him out there with a view to him being ready for the Saturday - but we certainly won’t rush him.”

Will Miller and Jamie Allen were both on the bench against Bradford – although both are still not fully recovered.

Clough said: “Will is still some way off as he has had no competitive football to get involved in but  he has done plenty of training sessions now.

“Jamie’s back is easing all the time and he was on the bench, but he was still not totally comfortable and was only there if we needed him for the last 10 minutes.”

New signing David Templeton is the only other concern.

Clough said: “David took a couple of knocks and he’s still building up fitness wise. Everyone else came through relatively unscathed.”
