BREWERS SIGN STRIKER ON SEASON-LONG LOAN

30 August 2018

BURTON Albion have signed striker Devante Cole on loan from Wigan until May 31.

Cole joined Manchester City at the age of seven and after loans spells at Barnsley and MK Dons joined Bradford City in 2015. He then joined Fleetwood in 2016 for an undisclosed fee and signed for Wigan in January this year.

The 23-year-old is a proven goalscorer in League One and a player Nigel Clough has long admired.

The Albion manager said: “Devante Cole is a player we have always liked as he possesses that goal threat. We got an opportunity to bring him on loan and we thought it was a great chance to have a look at him and he wants to get out and play games as well.

“He has a good record at League One and even without considering potential injury, we will be missing Liam Boyce in international breaks, so it seemed a sensible option for us to bring Devante in.”

Cole said: “There has been a few clubs interested and I got the call yesterday and I decided that I just wanted to get back out there playing. I have come here today and now I can’t wait.

“I’m buzzing about being back In League One and I just want to help the team and score a few goals.”
