THE Young Brewers were in an upbeat mood after their dominant 5-3 win over Rotherham United on Friday.
A hat-trick from first-year scholar Tom Hewlett set Albion on their way, while a goal from Kyle Clamp and a free-kick from Ethan Vale secured a big win on the road for the under 18s.
PDP Lead Coach Sam Rose said that the players should take note of this performance moving forward: “We scored five goals and we deserved to win the game. We have put a lot of work in over the last 10 days, and used the time between fixtures to address things that we haven’t been happy with, and we’ve seen improvements from that in the game today which is pleasing.
“We aren’t looking to find any negatives and we will take confidence from the game. It just showed that when we do compete and work harder than the opposition we will win games.”
Tom Hewlett, who scored a hat-trick, said: “Being captain of the team today was a really good experience and I was happy with my performance.”
Ethan Vale, who scored a stunning free-kick, said: “It was a really good performance from the team. After the previous two results, it was important to really bounce back.”
Kyle Clamp, who returned to the starting line-up after being out on-loan at Mickleover Sports, said: “It was a good feeling to score again, hopefully, we can move on to the next game with our confidence sky-high.”
