BREWERS SUPPORT EFL DAY OF DISABILITIES

3 December 2018

BURTON Albion Community Trust will be using the EFL Day of Disabilities to put the spotlight on its community programmes.

All 72 EFL clubs will be coming together today to showcase the positive work they do to ensure an inclusive environment for disabled supporters.

The EFL Day of Disabilities has been timed to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Burton Albion Community Trust, BAFC’s charity, currently runs three different community-based sessions.

Linked to the Inclusive Sport and Football Development areas of work, the PKF Cooper Parry Able Too Albion, Burton Albion Chariots Powerchair Football, Holiday Inn Express Burton upon Trent Junior Disability Club and Adult Disability sessions aim to allow participants to engage in weekly sessions, in both a fun and friendly environment.

Taking place today on the EFL Day of Disabilities is The Junior Disability session at the Burton Albion Community Hub. The Adult Disability session takes place on Fridays. These sessions offer a wide range of weekly activities from dance, football, and skittles, to more relaxed games such as cards and dominoes, as well as arts and crafts.

Able Too Albion is a PAN Disability football session for 11-16 year olds. This weekly training session allows participants to meet new friends, whilst also allowing them to represent BACT in the Staffordshire FA Ability Counts League on a monthly basis.

The Burton Albion Chariots is a Powerchair Football training session, run in partnership with St George's Knights. It’s suitable for players aged 8-80 years old with physical disabilities such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and other spinal injuries.
