CLOUGH SAYS SHREWS WILL BE ALL OUT TO IMPRESS NEW BOSS

7 December 2018

NIGEL Clough says that the Shrewsbury players will be all out to make an impression on their new boss when they arrive at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow (kick off 3pm).

Sam Ricketts was appointed the Shrews new manager on Monday and Clough is wary of the impact a new boss can have on a team.

“They will certainly get a lift as they will all want to impress him but when you are winning games as well they will want stay in the team. In a few days he won’t be able to do much so I don’t expect he will change things and they are in good form anyway at the moment.”

Albion have already beaten Shrewsbury once this season in the Carabao Cup back in August.

Clough said: “When we played them in the cup they had had a rough start but they were a good team. Don’t forget they were in the play offs last year and were close to getting promoted. Yes the have lost one or two players but they still have a few good ones there.”

But the Albion manager is more focussed on his own squad than the opposition.

He said: “We have had two brilliant days training. The attitude and effort they have put in has been top notch. We have done a lot of work on finishing.

“We can’t work on mistakes. I’m not sure what session you can do to deal with that. We can concentrate on making good decisions around the penalty area and that’s what we are working on this week as well.”
