INJURY UPDATE: FLEETWOOD

12 December 2018

NIGEL Clough needs to get as many members of his squad as match ready as possible as the Brewers go into a hectic period of football.

Albion have six League One games and a Carabao Cup quarter final to play between now and January 5.

But the good news is that injuries to key first team players are beginning to ease with Ben Turner and Ben Fox coming back into contention after playing in yesterday’s reserve game at Shrewsbury.

Clough said: “It was good timing to have the game as there were a few that needed the minutes; the likes of Joe Sbarra, Marcus Harness and Kieran Wallace. Ben Turner came on last Saturday for 30 minutes and had another 60 minutes yesterday and Ben Fox had about 70 minutes yesterday as well – for both that is important steps in their recovery.

“Any action they get now will be first team action as we will need all the bodies we can get with all the games coming up between now and January 5.”

That leaves Marvin Sordell and David Templeton still sidelined.

Clough said: “Marvin is still feeling his knee a little bit. David Templeton we are hoping will train this week with a view to being involved if not Saturday then for the Middlesbrough and Luton games.

"It will be important to have him back especially for the two home games.”

Kyle McFadzean came off on Saturday with a hip injury and Clough is waiting on a progress report.

He said: "He got a fair old whack but we will see how he is and we certainly will need him over the Christmas period."
