INJURY UPDATE: PLYMOUTH ARGYLE

28 December 2018

NIGEL Clough is not expecting to welcome any currently injured players back into the squad in time for tomorrow’s match against Plymouth Argyle.

The Brewers’ squad has been depleted in recent weeks with numerous key players spending time on the sidelines with injuries.

While the side was boosted by the return of David Templeton against Wycombe, Jake Hesketh’s early hamstring injury saw him join the long list of absentees, which includes the likes of Liam Boyce, Marvin Sordell and Kyle McFadzean, and will see him injured beyond the conclusion of his current loan spell at the Pirelli Stadium.

Clough says that none of the crop that missed the game on Boxing Day will be fit for tomorrow’s match, although the Brewers manager hopes to have some of them back within the next few weeks.

He said: “We are waiting for the scan on Jake Hesketh to see how bad that is. His loan is up on January 2 and we are still discussing things with Southampton.

“Liam Boyce is coming on okay. Bristol Rovers might be a bit too soon for him, we will see how he is coming on towards that game but I don’t think he will be any good for Plymouth.

“Marvin Sordell is back outside working with Nick Fenton today, that is good news. Kyle McFadzean is also coming on, it is a very unusual injury. It has been three weeks now and that is the time they said it would take to settle down so he will start stepping things up over the next two or three weeks.

“They are major players that we are missing at the moment, which is why it gets even harder to get results without those players.”
