PREVIEW: BARNSLEY

20 February 2018

THE Brewers are back on the road this evening as they travel to 22nd-placed Barnsley (7.45PM kick off).

HEAD 2 HEAD

The two sides first met each other in the Emirates FA Cup back in 2014, when the Brewers were going through a transition of managerial change. Barnsley ran out 5-0 winners on the day, and The Tykes still haven’t been beaten by the Brewers.

Barnsley have won three of the six previous meetings, with the other three games ending in draws.

The Brewers lost 4-2 in the reverse fixture this season

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS

John Brayford was withdrawn at the hour mark on Saturday and is still returning to full fitness after a knock so could be rested, with Damien McCrory the most likely candidate to fill in at left-back.

John Brayford is unlikely to be fit for Barnsley clash

It remains to be seen whether Nigel Clough will deem Darren Bent fit enough to play two games in four days, but Liam Boyce is also waiting in the wings for a start after appearing off the bench against Forest.

Ben Turner is a doubt after missing the 0-0 draw with Forest due to a calf strain, whilst Tom Flanagan and Will Miller are confirmed absentees.

BARNSLEY TEAM NEWS

Adam Davies and Connor Mahoney could be brought into the starting XI as Jose Morais prepares for his first game as Barnsley boss.

The hosts will be without defenders Adam Jackson and Zeki Fryers as they welcome Burton to Oakwell.

REFEREE

Tim Robinson is the man in the middle this afternoon. The West Sussex-based referee has taken charge of 35 games so far this season, brandishing 108 yellow cards and nine reds.

Robinson was in charge of Albion’s 6-0 defeat against Fulham back in January. He was also in charge of Burton’s 2-0 defeat away at Middlesbrough back in August.

He will be assisted by Jonathan Hunt and Matthew Mcgrath with Darren Drysdale the fourth official.
