VERDICT: BARNSLEY

20 February 2018

ANDY Garner says that despite the tense finish that the Brewers deserved the three points and a vital 2-1 win at Barnsley.

The first team coach said: "I think it was a thoroughly deserved three points, especially after the first half performance which was as good as we have played - some really good football.

"It was as good a start as we have had and when you get the goals as well you go in at half time very happy.

"In the second half we have to learn we can't defend for 45 minutes and if you do it's all about them but I thought we did enough to warrant the three points.

"Second half we gave the goal away and then it was pressure on and they threw balls into our box. But we had a young side out there and they have to learn in terms of sitting back too much. You have to get out and take the pressure off.

"But McFadzean, Naylor and Buxton when he came on did very well for us. We were thinking about bringing McCrory on as well as there were tired legs out there - that's bound to be when you are using the same people all the time. I

"t's not the biggest squad and injuries are hurting but we have still come here and got the three points which is what we wanted.

"We will rest up as much as we can now and get ready for Millwall and another hard battle.

"As tired as they are you don't feel as tired when you get on the bus knowing you have won 2-1.

"It's a massive result for us make no mistake."
