INJURY UPDATE: SHEFFIELD UNITED

28 February 2018

NIGEL Clough says that this week's bad weather is hampering his injured players as they look to be fit for the trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Tom Flangan, Ben Turner and John Brayford are all struggling with calf injuries and frozen pitches at St George's Park aren't helping plans to get them fit again. Marvin Sordell has been sidelined through injury and illness.

The Brewers manager said: "Tom has a possibility of making the bench on Saturday but is being hampered by the fact that we might not be able to train by then. Ben may need another week. John has had a scan and he's got a slight strain, so a couple of weeks.

"Marvin has had  a toe problem and then a bout of flu over last weekend. He's down to train later this week.

"We can't do much in the sessions at the moment and any muscle injury it's not ideal to be on a hard surface for your first session back.

"They will stay with Nick Fention and we will see how they are at the weekend as we will have more problems training on Friday than today judging by the weather forecast."

Meanwhile, long-term injured Will Miller is recovering well from his knee injury.

Clough said: "He comes in regualrly and does some work but it's the early stages of his rehabilitation. It's always nice to see him. Everything has gone as well as it could with the operation. He just has that long journey back to full fitness but when you have something to aim for that helps. Getting back for June/July is his target."
